Just Like Momma Used to Make.

Ruth Eni (otherwise known as Momma Dietz) is the daughter of our founder, Gottlieb Dietz. She’s been around the family business longer than anybody, so she knows firsthand how much of an imaginary line separates the family from the business. To get a sense of just how much the two are intertwined, we simply have to tell the story of our London Broil Roast Beef.

Once Upon a Time… no. That’s not right. This isn’t fairy tale.

It was a cold, blustery evening in the winter of 1993. No. That’s a little too dramatic.

Anyway, Ruth used to make a mean London broil roast beef back in the early 90s. At the time, Dietz & Watson didn’t offer a London Broil Roast Beef. But in 1996, that all changed when we started offering London Broil Roast Beef based off the same recipe Ruth had been preparing for years.

It’s one of the reasons we say that we marinate our roast beef like you would at home. Because, truth be told, that’s what Ruth did. We just incorporated her methods into the London Broil Roast Beef we’ve been making for about 20 years now.

Other than that, the story of our Beef is similar to every other product we make. We seek out the best meat from the start – in this case, 100% USDA Choice Cut Beef. And then we improve it by keeping our hands off of it as much as possible, except for marinating it Momma Dietz style along with our own blend of spices.

We talk about family while we’re at work. We talk about work while we’re sitting around the dinner table with family. This line between business and family has always been blurred. No one knows that more than Ruth (and our London Broil Roast Beef).
