museum-quality ham

are we the kind of ham lovers--that love ham so much that--we’d visit a ham museum while on vacation?

Yes. Yes we are.

That’s no slice of bologna. It’s actually a true story. Our CEO Louis is so passionate about ham that he happily went out of his way to visit a ham museum while on vacation in Spain.

The fact that Louis would visit a ham museum in Spain isn’t surprising to us. After all, our hams are similar to the Iberico ham in Spain – specifically with the way they’re raised and prepared. That there was an actual ham museum in Spain was the part of the story we found surprising. Awesome, but surprising nonetheless.

From black forest ham to this chef carved ham, we make pretty much any kind of ham you can think of.

While we have a lot of respect and museum-visiting fondness for the Iberico ham, our hams aren’t Iberico. Obviously. But our ham comes from pig farms that raise only the best North American pork. So making the absolute best product possible is another trait we share with the artisans in Spain.

This passion and desire can be traced all the way back to the early 1940s. Our company was only a toddler in business years, but that’s when our founder, Gottlieb Dietz, partnered with Mr. Watson, a smoker of hams.

Mr. Watson took great pride and care into making hams with a classic old world style flavor from the best pork he could get his hands on.

That mindset has never changed. We’ve been handcrafting our hams for more than 70 years, so we can appreciate similar passion and dedication – which is why Louis allowed himself to get a little sidetracked on his vacation to Spain.
